Art without Borders
As restrictions have been in place around the world due to the pandemic, and with many, if not most countries borders still closed, how can artists continue to connect and inspire one another, work together, and still feel a sense of belonging and community within the arts globally?
With the modern technology that is at hand today this has become easier. My idea was to remotely connect, and challenge five fellow artists within my international art network, from Hawaii USA, UK, and DK. I asked them if they would be interested in doing “A lockdown Project” from their respective homes and studios around the world that would be part of a proposed pop up art exhibition, exhibiting a body of my own abstract art works which have been produced over this lockdown period that will take place in an empty warehouse in Industrivej 12 in Kolding Denmark from 15/8 - 29/8.
Each artist rose to the challenge to interpret three of my paintings that would be in the exhibition, from the making of a dance piece, to producing a piece of music. A zoom meet was established, and the artists were briefed and challenged to interpret the paintings within their own artistic style, and discipline.
The dancers and musicians have now completed that task, Due to the physical restrictions an agreement was made with the dance choreographer that a dance video would be made and edited of the dance performances, and would be installed as a dance and music video within the exhibition.
The Festival week is taking place from 27/8 for one week, and my project finishes on 29/8 I am proposing that my event could be on offer to the public just for the weekend 27/8 - 29/8
